Premiums total up to $80,000 across eight cattle breeds four pig breeds three sheep breeds and poultry. Beef cattle include Angus Hereford Polled Hereford Shorthorn and Brahman. Dairy breeds Jersey Holstein Guernsey. Swine include Chester Whites Durocs Hampshires and Poland China. Sheep feature Suffolk Hampshire and Southdown. An added $500 awaits in the Quarter Horse show with Performance and Halter classes. Entries for adult divisions are open to all. juniors must be Louisiana youths in FFA 4-H or FHA. Rev Westbrook leaves for Shreveport to attend Pastors School at Centenary College. Local visitors include W C Abbott and daughter Misa Blanche Abbott from Jackson Parish, a teacher near Baton Rouge, who visited the Hinton home.
Witnesses describe community fear as tensions rise over a crisis at a New Orleans school. Rev J W Lipscomb returned home to conduct Mr Graham’s funeral and recalled a Gulf Coast boat trip halted by patrols during preparations for a shore missile. He estimated the missile at about 50 feet, streaking the sky like a rocket.

Mr and Mrs BM Ketchens visited relatives in Faynesville and Haytesville. The Lawrence Marit family of Greenwood lost their home to fire with only the clothes on their backs. Antioch Simsboro MYF council members joined a district planning meeting in Arcadia to map activities for the coming year. Gene Smith, son of Mr and Mrs Carl Smith, has returned from a two week visit in Tyler. Also visiting were Mr and Mrs Curtis Henzel and family of Tyler and weekend guests Mr and Mrs Bobby Causey and son of Athens.
Me and Mee Brice and family of Shreveport visited last week. Dawn Cardiball and children spent Thursday and Friday in Shreveport. Mary Bingham entertained Aba party for her 14th birthday Friday Aug. 198 with many guests including Sharon Duddy Charlotte Cook and others. Mrs N C Brownlee of Shreveport visited her mother Gladys Hedgepeth and sister Jennie for a few days.
Phillip Madeley and Gerald Madeley, twin brothers at Stephenville High School, earned valedictorian honors in the class of 125 with exceptional averages. The announcement highlights their academic distinction and factory-like steady performance throughout the year.
