The Police Jury of Lineon Mind Louisiana met in regular session August 12 1953 at the Courthouse Ruston with members John A. Mitchell Pro J W Cook W il Sumrall M A Woodard Th T Henry W B Walker Vireil Fre vier R M Enroe and J F Delony present. The meeting opened with an invocation by Mr Cook. Minutes from the last regular meeting and the August 8 were approved. The board discussed improvements for roads streets sidewalks and culverts within jurisdiction of various commissions and subdistricts and directed continued work and financing as required.

Lions Club Plans Football Jamboree Night at Ruston
The Ruston Lions Club will host a football jamboree at Louisiana Tech Stadium on Friday night, August 29, with five scrimmage games featuring Homer, Jonesboro-Hodge, Coushatta, and Ruston. Games run eight ten-minute quarters, with a banquet and queen presentations, and a dollar admission per person.

Friday Night Water Safety Display by Red Cross
Joss Cancett announced a Walter Safety Instruction Demonstration Friday night from 5 30 to 9 p m under the direction of Sonny Taylor. The Local Life Saving Class will perform demonstrations learned this summer under the American Red Cross. The ages of participants range from 12 to 16 years and cover Rescue from the Bank Swimming Rescue Getting Accidents Survival Swimming and Life Saving in General.

Kiwanians Buy Wheelchair for Ruston Needy
The Kiwanis Club of Ruston purchased a wheelchair for a local needy person. Diane Biker, son of Kenneth Piker of the Assembly of God Church, uses it while recovering from surgery at St. Francis Hospital in Monroe. Piker has polio and faces more medical procedures.
