The Democratic candidate Barney Moon defeated Republican Omer Brown in Kokomo by a large majority. Charles A. Martin the Socialist candidate finished far behind the leaders with 2 951 votes. Other cities show Republican gains and mixed results as voters call for higher public officials and women’s suffrage gains momentum.
Local residents gather at the Friend's church for the Township Sunday School Convention with leaders including C W Hollingsworth and Mrs Mollie Ralk. The meeting reviews township standings, notes the M E school as highest and Baptist and Friends as lowest, and plans for the next county gathering in Kokomo. Professor Haworth of Kokomo discusses modern Sunday school methods and the use of engaging activities to attract youth.

Report from Hemlock last week says many attended the County Sunday School convention with a positive outlook and the next gathering planned to be held here.

Wm. Bush of Colfax visited Russiaville Friday. Mrs. Louise Clark and her daughter Mrs. Geo. P. Holman of Kokomo were in Russiaville Friday.
Mrs Mollie Falk of Kokomo attended the town Sunday afternoon session of the township Sunday school convention, taking part in the event.
Lafe and Mrs. Neff with Jimmie Neff from near Delphi visited Mrs. Neff’s sister Mrs. Charles H. Alison. T. E. Newlin and his daughter Hilda of New London came to town Sunday afternoon for the township Sunday school convention.
M. T. Rateliff and Dr. H. C. Hart entertain Grand Rapids, Michigan, this week with humor and fish story teasing upon their return.
Itoward Brubaker and wife and Manson Unger and wife appointed as delegates from Russia ville M E church to the big Methodist state conference at Indianapolis. Rev Hartley will also attend.
Erwin Marsh of Mooresville Indiana has opened a shoe repair shop here. He operates a quick service using electrical equipment and is located in the room first door east of the post office. He invites local customers to bring repairs.
Cc H Allison and wife Geo L Woody Orville Ward and Delta Thomas plan attendance at the I O O F grand lodge and grand encampment in Indianapolis next week. George L Woody ran second for grand ward en at the last grand lodge election held last November.
The Christian church missionary meeting met Wednesday at Mrs. Ennie Sherwin’s North Union street home. President Mrs. M. T. Ratcliff opened the session, with papers by Mrs. Sherwin and Mrs. Ed Hood. Mrs. Ratcliff spoke, led the “Hidden Answers,” and planning for a future gathering at Mrs. McKinney’s home.
Prof. Clarence V. Haworth and his Kokomo daughter visited Russia for a Sunday afternoon event. They attended the Township Sunday School convention where Mrs. Haworth served as principal speaker.
Rev. I. F. Harter of Rigdon Indiana and his wife attended Methodist services in Russiaville Sunday evening. Harter, a former pastor, has just completed a five dollar parsonage at Rigdon where he now pastors.
Last Thursday a group of named ladies gathered for a dinner party at the home of Mrs. Robert Fife east of New London. The menu featured fried and roast chicken with trimmings and guests enjoyed a good time.
Mrs Roy McAnnich presided over the San Souci Needle Circle last Wednesday. Prizes went to Mrs Maude McCoy and Mrs Edith Weaver. Refreshments included chicken patties potato salad pickles angel and devil foods cakes pudding and coffee. Mrs Maude McCoy to host in two weeks.
John Cox, son of Mr and Mrs Cox, wandered from the assembly room during a parent teacher meeting at the schoolhouse last week. He slept in another room, and after the meeting ended the building was locked with him inside. He woke about 10 o’clock, yelled, and pounded the door until Charley Gifford heard him and found Superintendent Lindley. The key was secured and he was released to his mother in town.
