A soldier writer, Ural E Dunn, recounts his World War I journey from New York to Liverpool and through England to France. He details camps, training near Libourne and Bordeaux, passes to Marseille, frontline tours, and his wish to return home while noting high costs and delayed discharge.
Mr Arvel Parkey stationed at Fort Barry Cal arrived home and called on his sister Mrs W E Franklin. Nellie Murry of near St Paul died from double pneumonia at her brother’s home near Frankfort. Loren and Lara Franklin of near Flora visited W E Franklin family. The Baptists began a protracted meeting and the Holiness revival continues. Maude Turley of New London visited Ruth Walters. A basketball game drew crowds from here to Michigantown. Tuesday night two games are set at Forest Burlington High School vs Forest High and Szircleville Independents vs Forest Independents.
Geo L Woody made a business trip to Kokomo last Friday. W H Eikenberry was in town Monday. Mrs W E Hodson and daughter Mrs Emma Shull attended the funeral of Mrs Minnie Suggs at Froskfer Sunday.
The Dorcas Society gathered at Mrs C S Wadman on Tuesday afternoon to sew for the Red Cross. The next meeting is planned for Tuesday afternoon at Mrs Geo Woody’s home.
The Thimble Club met at Mrs. Omer Pollock home last Friday night with many members and children present. A decorated Christmas tree distributed gifts to all and refreshments were served. The next meeting is planned for two weeks with Mrs. Grant Ridnour.
The Cheerful Givers Class held a business session at Mrs. Younkins home. Officers for the coming year were elected including President Mrs C C Eikenberry and Vice President Mrs W G Carter. Next meeting set for the second Thursday in February at Mrs Keiths home.
The San Souci club bids farewell to Mrs. Earl Sims with a cut glass tumbler and a sewing afternoon. The next meeting is with Mrs. Shilling on January 16. An auction at Camp Custer in Battle Creek, Michigan, on January 14 will sell about 564 head of horses and mules no longer needed by the government.
Many Russiaville Baptist attendees joined revival services at Forest Sunday evening led by Rev. Butler from that area. The Baptist Church extends thanks to the Christian Church for their kindness and for the use of the baptistry.
The Rev. J. W. Parr announces Sunday services at 9 45 a m and 11 00 a m with preaching at 7 00 p m. Prayer meeting Thursday at 7 00 p m. Intermediate Christian Endeavor Sunday 6 00 p m. Christian Endeavor Sunday 8 00 p m. Welcomes all to attend.
The M E Church invites everyone to attend preaching service each Sunday and prayer meeting every Thursday evening at 7. Rev. Geo W Martin is the pastor and welcomes all to join the services and prayers.
