Recycling program grows in Major Pratt and Binscarth

Grade 11 science posters spread recycling blue imagery as two grade four classes promote door to door collection. Since taking over from Community Line in January, the towns aim to boost volumes toward 60 to 75 tonnes this year, with plans for a glass crusher and local processing to cut middlemen. The program, started in 1995, now targets self sufficiency and marketable recyclable streams, seeking infrastructure to sustain future generations.

Sustainable expansion of trophy trout fishing in Manitoba parks

FLIPPR aims to grow trophy rainbow and brown trout fisheries across the Parkland Region of Manitoba. Lake assessments show several lakes could support trophy trout, aided by stocking and aeration to overcome winterkill. Tokaruk Lake’s success by Oakburn Game and Fish Association is cited as a model for regional economic and recreational benefits.
