TB in RMNP Elk and Cattle Linked by TB Strain
In December 1991 a hunter found an adult male elk near RMNP with bovine TB, linked by genetic testing to a nearby cattle herd depopulated for TB. Subsequent years saw mixed results across elk, deer, moose, and cattle, with limited new TB findings and ongoing surveillance, amid park habitat changes and fencing efforts.
