Green Ribbon of Hope marks National Missing Children's Day
In May 1986 Canada recognized National Missing Children's Day via the Solicitor General. Child Find Manitoba promotes awareness throughout May with the Green Ribbon of Hope to honor missing children and support their families and friends. The symbol stems from the 1992 abduction and murder of Kristen French in St Catharines. The idea began at Holy Cross Secondary School as students and faculty sought a symbol of hope for safe return.
