Manitoba crop insurance hail premiums near unchanged
Agriculture Minister Jim Downey announced minimal changes to Part 2 hail premium rates across six risk areas with six unchanged and six slightly decreased rates. One area, Interlake risk area 15, saw a two tenths point increase due to heavier losses. Buckwheat and peas premiums rose to double the basic rate while potatoes and forage crops were cut to 75 percent of the basic rate. The 0.1 percent additional bail insurance premium from 1979 remains in force to speed deficit recovery.
