Pepin proposes changes to Crow plan rail subsidy
The bill outlines phased rail rate changes and guarantees to support grain shipments. Pepin argues current rail spending distorts the system and harms local villages while aiming to keep branchlines alive and set annual shipment targets. Leaders from UGG pools, Saskatchewan agriculture, and Liberal Ralph Goodale react, with Alberta pressing for producer-focused subsidies.
