Manitoba launches EChart Manitoba health record system
Manitoba Health Minister Theresa Oswald unveiled EChart Manitoba at Kildonan Medical Centre the first site to go live with the provincial electronic health record linking patient data across Winnipeg Brandon Notre Dame de Lourdes and beyond. The $40 million program includes 27.5 million from Canada Health Infoway aims to give authorized providers instant access to dispensed medications immunizations and lab results while securing patient privacy through tracked access and disclosure options. By July the system will be deployed to about 30 sites with phased expansion to primary care and emergency settings and a public awareness campaign explains how records are managed and protected.
