Assiniboine Basin Drainage Battle Persists Amid Dispute
The Conservation and Development Area Authority formed over drainage woes seeks a solution as landowners clash over water flow. Proponents say Manitoba runoff dominates the Assiniboine watershed while Shellmouth RM fears reduced control gates. Insurance would cover valley damages if the Langenburg East project proceeds, avoiding private-farmer liability. The Assiniboine River Management Advisory Board continues to hear concerns along the river.

Beef and Barley Festival Faces Low Attendance
The Beef and Barley Festival faces dwindling attendance and volunteer disinterest. A February workshop drew only a few attendees, none willing to replace the retired chair Sheri Self, fueling talks of major changes or scrapping the event. Chamber efforts by Joan Montgomery to spark interest failed, with a looming possibility of no 23rd festival in 1995.
