Stormy MFAC District Meeting Endorses Amalgamation Report
Following a stormy session at the Man itoba Federation of Agriculture and Co operation convention in Strathclair on June 22 the amalgamation report was endorsed. Blood donor drive set for Russell area August 11
D W Stewart Manitoba Director of the Blood Donor Service met with the Russell Red Cross to organize a blood donor clinic for Russell and area on August 11. Local groups canvass for donors with cards due back in Winnipeg by July 20. The 1954 supply to Sacred Heart hospital was 71 bottles plus plasma. 200 donors are needed to replace daily usage, with 50 more than 1953 to reach the target. Those not canvassed may obtain a donor card from Logie Smellie.

Brightside Hosts 10 C of C Members At June Meeting
Brightside community hosts 22 members for a June meeting at the school. President Dick Wheatley led a business session with reports on the plowing match, Red Cross canvass, tourist folders, and teachers’ tour. Bill McNaughton and Len Margetts volunteered for the Red Cross blood drive committee. The group voted 410. to the Athletic Council to assist Stan Krowski’s travel to Saskatoon for the Dominion junior track meet. Community chairwoman Mrs. B Reichmuth welcomed all and noted support for a water safety school at Silver Beach. Slides on Highway 83 goodwill cutover were shown by Keith McComb, with Lee Sanderson commenting, and travel film Meet Manitoba shown by L Leifer. Lunch followed, graciously served by local ladies.
