The Farmers Elevator Company Sells Levator to Anan Seller

The Old Days notes in 1902 that Farmers Elevator Company accepted honor to purchase his levator for 46.00 amid new buildings under construction including a silver reef arc, a Jan. A. Kippan house, and residences of W. McPartane and Jens Homacos AB Carleton. Mountain House’s Jens Homacos AB Carleton contributed part of a white bent as the second matriculation exams approached with Joan B. Thoms achieving credit in parts I and II of the med feat matriculation.

Dunn Buys House in Town Council Transaction

Town council moved to sell town property this year. At Thursday night’s meeting a bylaw authorized selling part of the house occupied by P Howey to J Dunn for 1600 dollars cash. Other actions included approval of accounts: town 2486 dollars and electric light 8.86 dollars. All members attended with Mayor Hembrof presiding.

North Western WMS Sectional Meeting at Binscarth

The eighth annual North Western Sectional meeting of the Birtle Presbyterial was held at the Unitea church in Binscarth on Thursday June 17 with auxiliaries from Russell Binscarth Anguaville Minuiska and Silverton in attendance. President Mrs Staples presided and papers covered medical missionary work in Manitoba temperance Christian stewardship and finance.

Oneer Resident of This District Dies at Coast

Robert Russell Sr. died in Vancouver on June 1. He came to Russell in May 1888, lived at Radcliffe until 1912, then moved to the Coast. Survived by two sons Vincent of Penticton and Harold of Toronto, five grandchildren, and his wife predeceased in 1895 with eldest son Rev. R Wharton Russell passing in 1932.

The Birtle July 1 celebration committee plans a busy day with baseball, softball, and football tournaments, junior athletic prizes, and amateur hour contests before the grandstand. The Winnipeg Canoe Club plans a July 4 event at Clear Lake drawing Western Manitoba attention. An special train from Winnipeg will carry about eighty contestants, friends, and 14 canoes and gear. Activities include racing and novelty events, with a 15-per-boat warcanoe race and an exhibition by Betty Cole. Rainy district brings smiles to Silvert on farmers

News from Silvert on notes many residents travel and visit relatives. Mr RM Anderson spent days in the city with Jackie Knight who will stay the summer there. Several families plan extended trips south through the States and east to Halifax, returning via Ontario. WMS members attended a sectional meeting at Binscarth reporting a splendid gathering. Local visits include Elmer Kennedy of Winnipeg and Mr and Mrs Stewart, with various family travel and wedding news. The UPA and UFWNM praised a recent chatauqua with strong attendance and a well received program.
