Funeral for Miss Myrtie Jane Russell Held in June
The funeral for Miss Myrtie Jane Russell daughter of Mr and Mrs C Reussell was held Saturday June 6. A private service was held at the family home with a duet by Mrs Jas Sherritt and Jas Baird and a public service at Westminster church with solo There is a Beautiful Land and Over the River. Born January 16 1896 in Kelso she grew up in Shoal Lake and attended the Presbyterian church and CGILT. She moved to Vancouver in late health decline and died after a stroke on May 29 at her sister Mrs Dick’s home. Surviving are seven sisters and two brothers with many relatives in Vancouver Inglis Roblin Russell Regina and Shoal Lake.

Criminal Code Changes Approved by House Committee
A committee of the house of commons passed a bill to amend the criminal code. It allows games of chance excluding dice and shell games, punch boards at fairs, and coin tables with a $200 penalty for unauthorized use of the word royal. It adds forged revenue stamps as an offence and restores to the Crown the right to appeal on questions of law. Carrying liquor on trains in prohibition territory becomes a criminal offence under the code.
