Wildwood Country Club near Russell welcomes the public to its new summer resort with a nine hole course, playgrounds, bathing pool, and clubhouse offering chicken dinners and ice cream. Special events include after the theatre rallies as the club plans to attract tourists and local visitors.
The Russell Branch of the Game and Fish Association received 100 pheasant eggs and distributed them for care. Volunteers include Frank Jones Alex Kieper Thos Jackson A J Mushumanski and Charlie Mushumanski. Delegates Jas Jackson and A Phizacklea attend the Federation convention at Clear Lake June 27 28 29. An association picnic is planned July 18 at Silver Beach with Alex Kieper Corp L Ferguson and Les Davidson in charge. The branch also joined the local Film Council appointing Corp Ferguson as representative.
May theory exam results from the University of Manitoba School of Music place local students high in the province. Jackie Cohan tied for second in Grade II, Marion Brownler earned first class honors, and Marnie Shaw with Iris Donoghue tied for second in Grade II.
All Quiet On The Local Diamond reports seniors hosting an exhibition at Langenburg Sunday. The seniors lost 8 to 1 in a one sided score, though the play was closer than the line hints. A return game with the Saskatchewan nine is likely early next week.
The Muskogee Cardinals colored baseball team from Oklahoma will play an exhibition game on the Russell diamond Tuesday June 29 against the Hungry Nine. Reports say the visiting squad put on a colorful display of baseball.
