Foxwarren Weekend Guests Recall Delayed 50th Anniversary
Foxwarren and district residents hosted a weekend gathering at Wilf and Ann Carrs with Don and Elaine from Portage Grace from Shilo Peg and Ken from Winnipeg and John from Russell. The event marked a delayed 50th anniversary celebration amid community music and social activities including a June 4 wedding reception for Bruce Porter and Sherry Sullivan and a June 11 wedding in St Marys Ukrainian Church near Rossburn. Local seniors sang and performed at a Westminster United Church recital while Penny Menzies Studio contributed performers and training, signaling strong future musical promise in the area. A Leisure Centre Supper drew about 100 locals and guests with a turkey ham meatballs menu and raffled quilt won by Mary Kushner Samborski, proceeds of 356.50. Don Dunford visited from Montreal to see family and return to Barrie Ontario, with a trip to Sturgis and back. A Leisure Centre Bingo on June 14 offers a 1000 jackpot in 56 numbers or fewer, rising each week.
