Municipality of Silver Creek presents an abstract statement of receipts and expenditures for the year 1909 covering all financial activity from January 1 to December 31. The document itemizes receipts and disbursements in a formal municipal accounting format.
In Brightside on Tuesday June 7 a child was born to Mr Geo Cusitar and his wife. The birth adds a new member to the local family as recorded in the community notices.
Local note shows a friendly baseball game between Binscarth and Russell set for Friday in Russell. Also, a prior Friday match is noted, with planning for a full sporting day in town. Other items report Miss Hollway returning from the Old Country, Dr. Clark on the mend, and upcoming lectures in Wrights Hall by Dr. Taylor.
Russell B D Agricultural Society offers prizes for amateur photography. J H Fenton adds a $5 prize. details to follow. Scholarships, penmanship pieces, map drawing Africa with British possessions, and Good Farming and Standing Grain contests with prizes listed. Entries due by June 19 to Gilbert A Cope, Secretary.
Jessie Middlemas, daughter of Mr and Mrs John Brown of Neepawa, wed J M F White of High Bluff at The Mapies. Rev R Frances Hall officiated. Guests included relatives and old friends. After a breakfast the couple left by afternoon train to Winnipeg amid warm congratulations and gifts.
On June Ist at 7am a pretty wedding united Miss K Clee and Mr J S Warrington at the home of Mr Richard Clee with Rev B L Whitaker officiating. The bride received a Dickens gift set of 15 volumes with a bouquet of La France roses and carnations. Guests enjoyed a wedding breakfast and many gifts including silver, china, cut glass, and a parasol from Warringtons boys. The couple left by Mr McDonagh in a new automobile. The Banner extends best wishes for happiness.
Seeding is completed and breaking underway in the district. The drain on Section 6 has been reopened with boxes replaced. Grazing lands are in high demand as outside cattle herds arrive. Despite cold weather, crops appear fair and locals hope for warm, sunny conditions.
Rifle practice set for Friday June 17th. Various social visits and gatherings noted including Mrs Snider Roblin hosting and Miss Cameron with the Bryant family. Sunday School picnic planned for Friday July 8th with refreshments at the usual hour and committees formed for a good time.
