Manitoba faces huge budget gaps from federal accounting error

The federal tax collection glitch overpaid provinces by 3.3 billion, with Manitoba initially thought to be 408 million over, plus another 200 million later found. Finance Minister Greg Selinger warns massive cuts may be needed if Ottawa demands repayment, risking instability and draining the fiscal stabilization fund. He notes Ottawa should cover the error, but repayment terms remain undecided.
