Kien El Thorariasen, formerly Miss Marie Swain of Mullwood, aged about 31, died Monday in Elfros Saskatchewan after six weeks illness. Survived by husband, three children, her parents and three sisters Mrs Harry Muteeon Mrs Norris Cronk and Miss Elsie Swain. Funeral was held yesterday at Elfros.

Russell Curlers Bid For Spiel Prizes

Russell curlers made a strong bid at the Manitoba Curling Association event with near ties and strong showings. The double rink competition saw a defeat to the Ahearn and Dunley rinks of St. Paul, while W W W Wilson steered the Sisteens to victory in the Shea event and the Hay Gillespie rink impressed in the Baton event.

Local Citizens Open Highway To Binscarth

Wm Fenton and volunteers opened the highway between here and Binscarth this week. Heavy snow and wind caused road closures, but the route is now passable by car in most sections. With the Binscarth road open, mail runs from J Russell to that point will be dispatched each Monday evening, closing at 9.30 p.m. at the local post office.
