Town council fixes 1939 tax rate same as prior year
Regular session last Thursday night set the 1939 tax levy at 38 mils and a 10 percent business tax on assessment. General assessment rolls were adopted for 1939 and 1940. A bylaw to sell the Robinson property to Walter Black for 430 was authorized once life interest proof is provided. Henry Clee named assessor for 1940 with 125 for same. About 8000 in electric light funds to be transferred to savings, yielding 75 yearly interest. Payments totaling 155.75 for electric light and 384.20 for town were approved. All members attended, Mayor Hembroff presiding.

Mrs. Fred Clement, 64, died in Bernowe and was buried Friday. Survivors include her husband, two daughters, two sons, four sisters, one brother, and eleven grandchildren.
