James Allmin Glen M P for Mar quette was named to the Standing Committees of the House on Friday. He was appointed to the Miscellaneous Private Bills and Public Accounts committees which may examine matters and report observations and opinions to the House and have power to send for persons papers and records.
Fire of unknown origin late Thursday night damaged two stables owned by Nick Bobka in the town’s northeast corner near the CNR railway. Volunteers and local helpers fought the blaze and saved most livestock, but one horse died after the flames were put out.

Silverton Wallace Hammond visited friends Hin Endelttte last week. The Mission Band served a supper after skating Friday night, a financial success. Guests at the Russell Collegiate social Friday included Bob Corley Morley Harold Am derton and Mise Brook. Mise Brook and Miss Virtue plan a C. G. LT. Club. first meeting held Saturday. Elise Kenny of Brookdale is visiting the Browns. After a week of small Duzzard, snow plow cleared the highway Thursday from Russell to Angusville, local men opened a road from the village to the highway. Watt Broadfoot, absent two weeks, is improving and walked briefly.
Endcliffe A McCann of Birtle spent a few days with his brother Roy and Mrs McCann last week. Mise K Pitts returned home from Inglis after a month away. The local hockey team won 4 to 3 against Shellmouth in a Friday tournament. Lineups included Endcliffe A Stewart and Shellmouth players among others. A pickup team played two afternoon games. The Young People served lunch and Mrs Roy McCann visited relatives at For Warren. A school dance followed the hockey games attracting good attendance.

Hockey teams from Rossburn played Elphinstone and Angusville with mixed results. Funeral announced for Mrs Geo Sutherland. Rossburn United Church held its annual meeting with officers elected and fundraising totals reaching 2475 dollars.
A Friday novelty dance drew two dozen attendees. Prizes awarded to Mary Seton and Steay Wentrenst in spot dance, Pearl Dent and Dave Rice in shoe dance, and Reg Self with Clara Dilts in another spot dance. Jack Batl ey served duties efficiently.
The Russell Curling Club hosts a close Grand Challenge final where Kippan defeats Clement to reach the final and win the major prize. Innes and Anderson also reach semifinals, with Binscarth rinks taking most open event victories. The evening includes a grand aggregate prize awarded to Martin Woods rink and social celebrations afterward.
Miss Gladys Watson of Grand View visited Mrs. Geo. H. Shevlin. The Mintenko family received charity support after the passing of a mother, with Geo. Ares and relatives noted in the lingering illness and stay of a few days with an uncle and aunt.
