Manitoba ledger speaks on loans and political clash
Late last week the legislature heard of an April 1 1982 pledge by Pawley and the government to announce a multiyillion dollar stabilization fund boost for Manitoba credit unions. The fund has paid about seven million to merges, with Heritage Credit Union needing 1.7 million to balance books and St Alphonus Credit Union facing a 1.7 million deficit. The debate included criticism of potash mine prospects at McAuley and Balmoral site issues with Alcan, plus ongoing farm relief and Crow rate discussions.
