Future Of Small Towns Foreseen By McGregor
Banker Helen C. Aars told the Texas Bankers Association in Dallas that small towns in Texas will fade as farm mechanization and reduced farm populations hit. To survive, towns must attract industry and serve a 15 mile market radius, with about one town per county becoming the norm. The number of commercial Texas towns with Dun & Bradstreet ratings has fallen from 3,500 to about 3,000.
