Navy Plans To Organize East Texas Company
Navy recruiter Chief Moore announced plans to form an East Texas Company of men who will recruit and train together in San Diego and return home on nine weeks of recruit training. Voluntary four year enlistments with two years in inactive reserve satisfy military obligations, with deferment possible for students. The effort mirrors earlier Northeast Texas units like the Texan Company of 96 men enlisted in Dallas, who will be on leave around July 4.
