Local 4-H Club Notes From May Meetings
The WJ Action 4-H Club met May 2 at 3 30 PM with 14 members and 2 adult leaders and discussed the History of Today's Dress program and refreshments. West Side and New Summerfield clubs met May 2 and 4 with reports on gifts, newsletters, and plans for picnics and clothing programs while Reklaw Ponta Lach and Jacksonville horse projects scheduled events and rider safety training announced.

Miss Genny Butler Feted at RHS Graduation Party
Sunday afternoon May 7 from 2 to 4 residents gathered at Mrs. Er ie Edwards home to honor Miss Genny Butler of Rusk High School a 1967 graduate. Co host Mrs. Dickey and the honoree mother Mrs. Rachel Butler welcomed guests. Conversations photos and piano songs filled the afternoon as silver and blue decor framed a graduation theme with flowers globe mortarboard and silhouettes.

Samuel D. Brewer 23 of Troup Texas earned an early promotion to private first class on April 21 at Fort Hood Texas. The Army program rewards high performance with expedited advancement and leadership potential. Brewer a 1962 Tr o u p High School graduate joined the Army in October 1966 and is stationed near Rusk Texas with wife Edith residing on Rose Street.
