Ministers Hold Pastoral Clinic at Rusk State Hospital
About 40 ministers from 36 counties attended the second annual Pastoral Clinic at Rusk State Hospital. Rev K B Timpkin announced discussions for ministers and their congregations. Dr T Grady Baskins led talks. other speakers included Dr Chas Covington and John Nichols with Mrs Thelma Jones chairing the volunteer council. Patients showcased a program led by Essie Madden as visitors toured hospital facilities.

Second Shot Of Polio Vaccine Delayed In Texas
The Texas Department of Health says Salk polio vaccine supplies have not arrived yet. Dr. W. E. Gabbert notes the second doses may be given 3 to 4 weeks after the first, and they will be administered as soon as vaccine becomes available in Austin.

Doctors Called to Big Spring for Sanity Hearing
Drs Castner and Woods from Rusk State Hospital traveled to Big Spring to testify in a restoration sanity hearing for Henry Friar who killed a police officer in El Paso in 1951 and was deemed sane there. Friar has been a patient about three years and this marks the doctors second appearance in the case, following a hung jury and last year’s El Paso trial on a venue change.

Swink and Wallace Named to All Scholastic Team
Malcolm Wallace of Greenville and Jimmy Swink of Rusk from the 1960 TCU football squad earned spots on the All Scholastic football team of the Southwest. Wallace, a senior ROTC member, will enter the army next week after three years as a guard. Swink, a sophomore halfback, led the Frogs in ground gained and scoring last season. Both hold strong academic records and will receive 20 volume sets of The American Peoples Encyclopedia.

RSH Aide Named Finalist for National Psychiatric Award
The National Association for Mental Health announced that Rusk State Hospital's nominee for Psychiatric Aide of the Year was approved by the Nominating Committee.
