Modern equipment boosts production and trims labor while milk is stored in a 30000 gallon silo before pickup by Milk Producers Inc.
Sunday afternoon a granite marker was dedicated at Rocky Springs Baptist Church in Dinville for George Washington Slover. Slover, Jacksonville Texas pioneer and first Rocky Springs pastor, was born 1816 and died 1864. his descendants include Nathaniel Alex Slover, father of Bruce Slover of Rusk.
The Giants sit atop the standings at six wins and one loss after this week’s games. Yankees five and two, Braves winless in seven, Cardinals three and two, Red Sox four and two, Indians one and five. Rusk High School star Mike Birdwell signed to play football at Trinity University San Antonio as a defensive back or linebacker. He will major in physical education and also play baseball for the Tigers, having earned all district pitching honors with a 10 and 1 mark. Trinity coach Earl Gartman notes Birdwell as a top recruit while Kalinec, a former local, expects him to contribute heavily in coming years.
Nine proposed constitutional amendments head a recommended rise in welfare ceiling from 60 million to 80 million and a 3.5 billion water bond. Secretary of State Martin Dies Jr. oversaw drafting to set ballot positions once the legislature cleared the measures. The amendments will appear on the ballot as HJR 3. to delete obsolete see AMENDMENTS Page 8.
