The Rusk School Board elected Billie Braswell to be tax assessor-collector for the district. It also offered the high school head coach job to Kenneth Almond of Weatherford and set a January 16 start for Braswell. A delinquent tax cleanup waives pre 1950 penalties if paid by June 30 1961.

Texas Highway Patrol data show Cherokee County tied for many deaths with eleven in 1960 after 74 injuries on non urban highways. District 6A recorded 142 accidents and $113,389 property damage, with December alone listing eight injuries.
