The Cherokee and Cherokee County Section TM Sareeamacoe County Historical Committee will meet in Rusk at 10 a.m. with County Judge J W Chandler to organize sub committees and plan projects for the year. They will designate and mark graves and sites and may provide initial markers.

Estimated Farm Tax Due Jan 15 for 1962
Farmers and ranchers must file their 1962 estimated federal income tax by January 15 unless they file a final return by February 15. Charles A. Johnson of the Internal Revenue Service in Jasper notes that paying the estimated tax by January 15 allows until April 15 for the final return and any balance. otherwise the final return and full tax due must be paid by February 15.

Anton Lustig seaman apprentice, son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Lustig of Route 1 Jacksonville Texas, serves aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Ranger operating in the Western Pacific with the Seventh Fleet. Ranger will visit ports in Japan Okinawa the Philippines and Hong Kong as part of American seapower abroad.

Ford of Maydelle Dies in Houston at 61
Walter Eugene Ford 61 of Route 4 Maydelle died after a two week illness Tuesday morning in Heights Hospital Houston. Rev J J Defoor conducted funeral at Oakland Baptist Church with interment in Oakland Cemetery. Survived by wife Reba three sons Billy Eugene James, six daughters Rebie Wood Helen Burns Lottie Mae Burleson Maxine Herrera Wanda Sue Reba Ann, brother Jack Ford, sisters Emma Edwards Tilda Pryor and 18 grandchildren.
