The New York Journal of Commerce reports M Leod appeared in the Supreme Court amid a dense crowd. The defendant’s counsel sought discharge on grounds that if offense existed it was national against the United States, with the British government tied to the attack on the Caroline, and the hearing paused to adjust procedural questions as evidence is considered.
