State v Sheppard raises constitutionality of Vagrant Law Section before Judge Cullen. John Baker pleaded guilty to cattle theft. fined one dollar, imprisoned three years, disfranchised for tenders. Thomas and Deijikih Kennedy, jailed on adultery charges, pleaded guilty. Thomas fined five dollars, nine months in county jail, Deijikih fined one cent, three months jail. Thomas read a four page confession.

County Board Approves Bridge and Cemetery Fence Contracts
The board met on adjourned date with full membership and funded a $100 appropriation to aid a Little Blue River bridge between sections nine and sixteen Posey township. An iron fence for East Hill Cemetery was ordered. No bids were received for the Moffitt millroad bridge. its construction order was rescinded. Spencer was appointed to survey the bridge and report on October 8. Hugh M. Davis was chosen to supervise the Moffitt mill road bridge construction. The board adjourned to November 12.

Adjourned subject to president’s call.

A gang of three road agents attacked Henry Myers and six freighters twelve miles south of here. Young Myers fired, hitting one robber in the face and breast. The robber fired back, was wounded, fled, and died later. others fled. The dead man identified as Texas Frank, tied to a Sidney coach robbery. Deputy sheriffs pursue. Myers party unharmed. Also note a fatal fall from Fairfield whisky incident and a tidbit: the United States ships over 100,000 boxes of clothes pins to England annually.
