Cincinnati Commercial reports Ben Smith a forty year old opium addict from Lush county Indiana was found last evening in a destitute state shaking from opiate effects near the second toll-gate on the avenue against Charles Gering's house. Officer Bergman took him to the Tenth District Station after a struggle. a box of opium and a bottle of ether were found on his person.
The list shows multiple issued licenses including W Pabner and Catharine Wilcox, W Thor and rankins Hidgepath, Sid Smith and Mary Newcomer, Lemmel Warren and others, Christopher Henry and Lucretia Cassady, Kobi Cox and Ally Poe, among several pairings. Geo Wright awarded Centre township pauper practice at 80 dollars.
The audit reports total receipts of 189 142 93 and total expenditures of 175 439 73 for Rush County Indiana for the year ending May 31 1877. It itemizes taxes on township state school road and other categories and lists balances on hand of 13 453 20.
June 1877 Rush County records list numerous deeds and transfers in Nobles, Posey, Jackson, Rushville, and Homer townships including Wm Williams to EJ Beaver 20 acres, Lucy E Fisk to Geo W Conrad lot 31 Mab, and Gabriel Williams to Jefferson Helm Jr five acres. Notices include Grayston Slack marriage notice in Indiana and local medical ad advising Dr Bull's Baby Drops as safe for infants. Local Lafayette Dispatch note mentions pork butcher issue.
