The Connersville Times condemns a Jacksonian piece misstating facts about the Little Flat Rock bridge built by Mr. Kennedy in 1866. It cites natural decay as cause, defends Kennedy and criticizes the Jacksonian for unfairly pressing wooden bridges while noting local business leaders plan a cash system for the new year.

A 1877 local notice recounts events in Falmouth and Fair View. It mentions Fairview Institute, Mr Fry considering leaving Fairview Academy, and a recent lawyers meeting. Dr James P Orr visited Fairview, Amos Knotts runs a neat drug store, Miss Manning teaches the Fairview district school, Rev Conner preached at the Fairview M E Church, and Rufe Gibbs makes boots at sixty cents per fifteen minutes.
