Rio Grande farmers sue MRG Conservancy District
A group of Rio Grande Valley farmers sue the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District in Bernalillo County accusing it of illegally cutting water supplies during drought. Led by Janet Jarratt the suit claims senior water rights were ignored causing crop losses as deliveries were curtailed in August. The district defends allocations as shared in shortages and notes Pueblo rights priority with a policy change eyed for Oct. 8.
