Filibuster leaders near compromise on natural gas prices
Senators Howard Metzenbaum and James Abourezk say they may halt their five day filibuster against natural gas price deregulation if Senate leaders' compromise gains enough votes. The pair called the effort a tremendous victory but warned they will oppose deregulation if the vote fails. The weary 37 hour session followed by a night break left senators cautious about the path ahead.
