Low Mood and Mental Health Awareness Week
Mental Health Awareness Week runs October 6 through 12 to destigmatize mental illness and explain diagnosis and treatment. Low mood is a common, real illness that can persist for weeks or months and disrupt daily life.
Understanding and treating low mood and depression
Low mood affects about 11 million Americans yearly with higher rates in women. It is a medical illness treatable by antidepressants, psychotherapy, or both, with more challenging outcomes if untreated. The Sunrise Mental Health Center at ENMMC invites the public to an open house on Tuesday Oct 1 from 11:30 to 1 p.m. in the second floor unit.

Buckley over fox hunting in Swedish context
A Swedish professor argues Swedes are generally honest and decent making fake illnesses unlikely. The piece muses on whether the market system could be seen as honest and decent and contemplates a broader social stance, with John Mortimer critiquing socialism and fox hunting as part of British discourse. Fox hunting is portrayed as humane to some and as a sport that challenges animal welfare norms.
