Roswell State Bank claimed the Sweepstakes Award for the seventh straight year with a giant red pagoda float themed Happiness Is Good Fortune. First National Bank of Roswell won the Grand Prize with a pink pig float, while Roswell Security National Bank took the President’s Trophy for best commercial entry. About 30,000 spectators watched as 17 bands performed and political figures led the procession.

ENM State Fair Activities Schedule
The ENM State Fair runs September 26 to October with events listed for Tuesday including a 1 p.m. to midnight carnival and a barbecue for dignitaries and visiting sheriffs posses and riding clubs. A 7:30 p.m. rodeo and 8 p.m. Hondo Fiesta Dancers follow. Wednesday features market lambs judging at 8 a.m. and senior citizens day at 10 a.m. with events continuing 5 p.m. to midnight.
