Cincinnati Ohio. Charles S Mechem Jr requests abductors return his 4 year old daughter Allison. He says the family is heartbroken and only wants Allison safely back. Police and family appeal for information leading to her return.
Debbs cleared four men from the Roswell Street Department fought with shovels and pitchforks to keep the Hondo River from damming under the Deming Street and Lea Avenue bridge. Leo Dobbs Larry Youngblood Richard Arias and Louie Flores are seen clearing weeds and garbage from the rain-filled streambed as Spring and Hondo Rivers flow through Roswell.
President Ford told police chiefs to prioritize violent and street crime in inner cities where harm to the poor is greatest. He urged swift action, tougher penalties, and a pilot program for habitual criminals, plus better witness cooperation and court efficiency.
Officials scramble to build a dike near Eagle Draw to protect the Marcus Leyba house and nearby Heath Trailer Park in Artesia after heavy rains. A wall of water rose around 2 a.m. and prompted evacuations while two Caterpillar machines try to divert floodwaters and prevent broader damage.

New Mexico Governor Bruce King is to attend a 7 p.m. dinner at Roswell Country Club honoring C. John Miller president of the Independent Petroleum Association of America. Miller, partner with his brother Gene in Miller Brothers of Allegan Michigan, is the IPAA's 20th president and has led Michigan and national oil groups. He runs a producing firm with extensive holdings in Michigan's Niagram reef area and has four children with wife Reva.
