In Cincinnati and New York items Roosevelt accuses Foraker Mack and Haskell of misstatements. Senator Foraker declines to respond immediately but may later. Taft distances himself from any deal with Foraker over presidential support. Mack denounces Roosevelt in a telegram to the President.
The notice urges last minute voting at the Orpheum Theatre with ticket rules: adults two voting tickets, children one, extra seats one, and each voting ticket yields one vote. Timothy L. Woodruff, Republican state committee chairman, cites quotes from Oyster Bay about campaign money and responds to a New York publication claim about funds from Taggart.
Oyster Bay residents cheered as Theodore Roosevelt and his family left for Washington signaling the end of seven years as the summer capital. The President, relieved after a busy season, began the journey with the summer White House staff, ending the seaside capital era.
In New York today the Black Hand set fire to a West 113th street apartment building after two blackmail suspects were imprisoned. Dozens of tenants were rescued by police and fire crews as a man leapt from a third story window in critical condition.

Esther A Hillert aged 19 disappeared from her mother's summer home in Chesterfield Massachusetts on September 13. Her body was found near the woods with a double barreled shotgun by her side both barrels discharged, indicating self inflicted death.
Kansas City report shows cattle receipts at 20,000 with market steady to 10 cents higher. Southern steers priced from 3.00 to 4.50.
Cincinnati September 22 Judge Taft told delegates of the Negro National Baptist Convention that in the White House no plea of a Negro would be given less consideration than that of a white man. He welcomed Black support and expressed sympathy for the race as grounds for backing him.
Judge W L Kuykendall of Saratoga was elected deputy grand sire of the Order of Odd Fellows at the Sovereign Grand Lodge session in Denver on Sept 22. Deputy Grand Sire J Nolin of Tennessee was raised to grand sire, while all other officers were re elected.
