Youth ChalleNGe Program mentors help teens stay on track
The Army National Guard Youth ChalleNGe Program runs a large mentor network second only to Big Brother Big Sister nationwide. Lt. Jim Engelhard notes mentors distinguish the program from boot camps, guiding 16 to 18 year old high school dropouts through a five month on site training and a 12 month community mentoring phase. Mentors require training and background checks and must stay involved for a year after graduation. To join, call Lt. Jeff Davis at 347-3582.
