Racing Commission chair may have signed track marker

State Racing Commission Chairman George Maloof acknowledged he may have signed a marker at a track while serving as commissioner. Commissioner Robert Estrada of Albuquerque said he borrowed 1500 from Sunland Park in 1975 to buy a horse in a claiming race but was not a commissioner then. Gov. Apodaca fired Herman Tabet after he accepted 5700 in credit from Ruidoso Downs and Sunland Park, while others say Maloof and Estrada’s cases are less serious. a Thursday meeting will decide Fortuna Properties licenses tied to Sunland and Ruidoso.
