Javier Pereira a 75 pound four foot four inch Colombian Indian arrived in New York for medical testing to determine his alleged longevity. A Columbia scientist asserts he may be over 120 years old with other estimates reaching 167 years.
Secretary of Defense Wilson says the volunteer reserve program is short of men but he opposes a compulsory draft now. He hints at possible alternatives such as releasing two year draftees after 21 months for reserve duty and notes no current plan to seek new legislation for direct drafting. In Albuquerque a District Court prelim hearing is scheduled next week for two former State Revenue Bureau employees charged with embezzlement. W. B. Albuquerque police questioned a 21 year old man in the strangulation death of Garnet Davis 40 whose nearly nude body was found in her apartment at 418 Second NW. The suspect was jailed in Las Cruces after a state police alert linked a hitchhiker to the description. Davis had Denver El Paso ties and previous runs with police.
In Boone Iowa thousands greet Eisenhower on a Des Moines to Boone swing as farmers in the corn belt cheer his visit despite farm policy doubts. He predicts carry Iowa by about 200000 votes with Gov Hoegh praising the effort. A Boone attorney notes farmers still complain, prompting the president to reply that they are being helped.

Santa Monica furrier Albert Teitelbaum of Beverly Hills is free on $5,000 bond while awaiting appeal of a one year county jail sentence for staging a fake holdup at his salon. He was convicted of grand theft and filing a false insurance claim after reporting a large fur theft on December 27.
Governor Dennis J. Roberts tells Newport NAACP branch that state housing policy will rapidly erase segregation and achieve total integration. Negroes currently segregated in public housing will get first choice of available units in other parts of the projects.

Quebec born stage and screen actress Nanette Bordeaux, 38, died yesterday in a Los Angeles hospital after illness following recent travels to Paris and London. She started on the New York stage and later appeared in Hal Roach and Columbia Pictures films.
Adlai E. Stevenson in Silver Spring Maryland assailed President Eisenhower for offering only half the facts on the world situation and urged stronger federal aid for education. He said Africa and the Middle East tensions were ignored and warned that U S schools face a national classroom shortage and neglect of children's needs.
Two 18 year-olds were questioned in the shooting death of Richard O. West 31 found dead with a chest wound in front of a dairy products drive-in. West was closing the drive-in when shot as robbery motive is suspected. The suspects surrendered at the sheriff's office after their car was found wrecked near the scene.
