Object to Assessments Seeks Injunction Against Rate Rise

New York September 20. At a meeting the executive committee appointed representatives of the subordinate councils and decided to proceed to restrain enforcement of increased assessments enacted by the supreme council to take effect October 1. The application for an injunction will be filed in the United States Court of the Massachusetts district.

Mississippi Flood Crest Reached. Recission Expected

The Mississippi flood tide near St Louis and St Charles has roughly reached its crest and danger remains low. Water is expected to recede tonight. The Missouri bottoms for 22 miles are submerged two miles wide affecting crops and driving about 150 families from homes.

Wreck in Nevada Kills One and Injures Twenty Five

A head on collision between two freight trains nine miles west of Beowana, Nevada, left Geo. Ware dead and twenty five others injured. The crash triggered a rear end collision of two passenger trains as crews rushed to stop the trains after orders were ignored. Medical teams and supplies were dispatched to the scene promptly.

Funeral of Elbert J. King in Butte Montana

Death of Mrs Tigner in Roswell at 25

Mrs. R. M. Tigner aged about 25 died at 12:30 today at the home of her husband on Second street and Missouri avenue after an illness from yesterday afternoon when she was suddenly stricken with heart failure superinduced by tuberculosis. The remains will be shipped to Farnhamville Iowa for funeral and burial. Mrs. Tigner had moved to Roswell two years ago for health and made many friends. Her mother and sister Miss Daisy Babcock were at her bedside. Mr. Tigner has been a prescription clerk at Pecos Valley Drug Company for two years.

Government Sends Fish From Meredosia Hatchery

G C Leach, distributing agent for the Government fish hatchery at Meredosia Illinois, arrived by afternoon train and proceeded south. He was met by W S Prager who received a hundred fine black bass to stock the Bottomless lakes and C W Haynes who received a large consignment of carp for his lake northwest of town. The commissioner left his car at Wichita and is distributing fish to points southwest in cans. The government uses this method to stock lakes and streams with fish.

Oil price rise in Pittsburgh three-cent jump

In Pittsburg on September 19, Standard Oil raised prices for all crude grades except Raglan. The three-cent increase applied to higher grades, while the lower grades rose two cents, marking the third rise in two weeks.

Thief returns jewels from Mrs Baker home
