Former Lincoln County Political Figure Dies
H. V. Johnson, 57, a former Republican legislator from Lincoln County, was found dead in an Albuquerque motel room. He moved to Odessa, Texas, two weeks earlier while editing an oil industry directory and had served in the Legislature in 1948 and as Lincoln County Republican chairman. He lost a state Senate race in last spring’s primary.

Alfred the eight foot eight hundred fifty pound alligator escaped into a nearby lake for three days before zoo curator Bob Jenni and two men captured him.
