Dexter police chief fired amid open records dispute
Dexter Chief Mario Contreras has been fired with unanimous support from the town council. State police investigation launched in May has been referred to the district attorney for review. The town denies access to his personnel file, citing ongoing probes, while watchdogs say IPRA requires disclosure of public employee files with redactions only for opinion material.
