Third Man In Killing Is Captured
A Texas man Clarence Henry Koch 33 Houston was captured and arraigned on open murder charges in the Tijeras Canyon killing of Rafael Griego 56. Koch and two others John L. McFerrin 32 El Paso and Allan Ray Houston Mapys 32 Houston faced the same charge. Koch described as weak and shaky was found near U S 66 by State Police man Frank Rice after fleeing from a canyon hill posse. He slept in a creek bed and survived until capture.

A Marine company cut off near the demilitarized zone fought its way back to safety as fighting eased. They reported light casualties and six enemy dead. Air action over North Vietnam included MIG encounters and a carrier strike on Ninh Binh rail facilities. Additional reports said Vietnamese militia killed 18 Viet Cong in An Xuyen with very light casualties.

300 Old Timers Gather for Picnic in New Mexico
More than 300 area residents attended the 61st annual New Mexico Old Timers Association picnic and dance at the Eagle Lodge south of Roswell. Freak Wave Halts Rescue Copter in South China Sea
Cmdr Dale Barcek described a wall of water 69 feet high hitting a rescue helicopter during a mission to save 44 men from a foundering freighter. The freak wave, driven by a typhoon, also caused the ore carrier August Moon to crash on Pra tas Reef as Oriskany and rescue teams responded. Four British officers and 40 Hong Kong Chinese were aboard the ore carrier.
