Chairity fundraiser at Tinnies inspires community support
The Community Foundation of Chaves County hosts Chairs for Chair ity at Tinnie Mercantile Store and Deli. Twelve artist decorated child chairs go up for silent bidding until Oct 15, with unsold pieces to be displayed at local businesses and bid at the Angel Gala on Nov 5. Proceeds aid local groups.

Earthquake rattles region near Raton with no damage
A magnitude 3.8 quake struck just west of Raton near the New Mexico Colorado border before 7 a.m. Friday. No damages or injuries were reported, following a sequence of larger quakes in the area. The event depth was about 3 miles.

Missing medicines and fraud linked to Villa Del Rey incidents
Police were called twice to Villa Del Rey on 2801 N Kentucky Ave with reports of missing resident medicines during shift changes and a fraud case where a resident allegedly aided by another bought a $9000 car. A Hyundai Tucson with temporary tags was found outside a nearby residence. A Blackberry Touch was stolen from El Capitan Elementary School staff area and traced along a bus route.
