An automobile containing two men and two women plunged down a thirty foot embankment near Baldwin Missouri while attempting to avoid a farmer’s wagon. One occupant, John Kalleen of New York, died. The others were injured. Cars were traveling at speed. driver tried to steer away and lost control. Separately, naval target practice in Washington showcased eight hits out of nine with eight inch guns from North Atlantic Squadron.

W C Carrington of Coffeyville Kansas arrived in the city on the first evening to make his home here. His wife joined him several days ago. They are cousins of M R Hughes who came from Missouri months ago and will live with him for the present. Hughes is connected with the Western Grocery Co.
