The Chicago primary yielded Insurgent gains in 3 of 25 Illinois districts with Henry Boutell losing to Frederick Gansbergen. Cannon was renominated by about six thousand votes as Browns and other Democrats saw mixed outcomes and public fraud allegations surfaced in Chicago. Roosevelt and Barnes clashed over party direction while Wilson was nominated for New Jersey governor and Kentucky’s Caleb Powers won the Republican nod.
