U.S. and Libyan officials face attack on Benghazi consulate
A mob stormed the U.S. consulate in Benghazi firing on guards, burning the building, and looting. One American was killed and another wounded as Libyan security reportedly failed to stop the assault, while protests also roiled the Cairo embassy with flag removal and anti U.S. chants. The State Department condemned the violence and pledged protection for personnel worldwide.
